California and Amazon Wildfires 

Welcome to our first discussion event! Throughout this discussion, we heard from many passionate young women about their thoughts on the wildfires that have been plaguing the American West as well as other parts of the world.

Some of the topics we learned about:

1. How the indigenous tribes were banned to do cultural burning, which allowed the under roots to get thicker and fueled stronger fires.

 

2.How climate change has become a political topic even though science does not care which side of the political spectrum you are on.

3. How to communicate with people who don't share the same urgency attitude towards climate change as we do
